College Possible has a budget of nearly $22 million, approximately 125 full-time employees and more than 275 AmeriCorps and VISTA service members. During the 2018-2019 school year, we are serving approximately 18,000 students in all 50 states, at more than 90 partner high schools and 350 colleges.

Basic Description

The Chicago Program Director is a responsible for all programmatic activities in the Chicago site including the development, administration and evaluation of the College Possible program. The Program Director will work closely with the Executive Director on setting and managing strategic programmatic goals, represent the organization externally, and oversee the Chicago 32-person program team.

Essential Job Functions

Overall Program Strategy and Oversight 25%

  • Work collaboratively with the local and national team to create program strategy and oversee delivery of all programs for the Chicago site
  • Work with the research and analytics team within the national office to analyze program results to drive strategy
  • Analyze and report program data to ensure fidelity to the model and desired outcomes
  • Prepare program content and attend board program committee meetings
  • Lead new high school recruitment
  • Co-manage Chicago Public School partnership including contract renewal and quarterly meetings with the post-secondary team
  • Creation of annual program budget

Evaluate and Enhance the College Program 45%

  • Manage and be a thought partner with the senior program coordinator
  • Build and help manage college partnerships with the Chicago team securing scholarships and resources for students
  • Oversee summer melt programming
  • Analyze college support services to best support college students
  • Manage partnerships with organizations offering financial aid tools for college students
  • Work with team to create a volunteer program to support college students

Staff Management and Development 25%

Manage Access Program Director and Senior Program Coordinator

  • Meet regularly with team members to support and assess progress toward goals
  • Create and oversee performance goals and reviews for the program team
  • Oversee program team satisfaction by creating a positive work environment
  • Provide ongoing professional development for the program team

Community Engagement & Thought Leadership 10%

  • Actively participate in collective impact groups such as Thrive Chicago
  • Attend evening events to help represent College Possible
  • Attend local conferences representing the organization
  • Participate in monthly CCAPS meetings
  • Work with marketing team to guide the development external content and thought leadership

Professional Requirements (Skills & Qualifications)

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • Bachelor's degree required;
  • Master's degree preferred.

Related Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience in the college access or success field or related educational fields, including 5 years of experience leading and managing a team;
  • Experience in strategic planning, public speaking and organizational management.

Computer/Software Skills:

  • Strong computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office and experience in database management;
  • Salesforce experience preferred.
