Basic Description

The Development Manager is responsible for advancing the fundraising efforts of all College Possible sites and National Office by developing fundraising tools and programs, identifying and securing multi-site revenue and sharing fundraising best practices across the national organization.

Essential Job Functions

Fundraising Program Development: Develop tools for individual giving that can be utilized in sites across the organization to increase giving from individual donors. Develop initiatives and enhance programs that can increase fundraising in sites, including planned giving, sustainers, alumni engagement, and volunteer engagement.

Facilitate Best Practice Sharing: Gather and share fundraising best practices across the organization. Develop and enhance tools to leverage successful fundraising techniques across sites.

Secure multi-site and national fundraising gifts: Prospect, cultivate and solicit gifts from national donors in support of multi-site or national operations. Work closely with site and national development leads to strategize, write grants and secure new resources for the organization.

Training:  Provide training and support for new development staff at sites. Coordinate an annual development summit for all external relations team members at College Possible.

Supervise, Train and Support the Site Support AmeriCorps VISTA: Duties include providing daily support, guidance, and oversight to the Development VISTA to ensure excellence in service to sites and other organizational stakeholders.

Professional Requirements (Skills & Qualifications)

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Related Work Experience:

  • Five years fundraising experience required;
  • Strong grant writing and grants review experience required;
  • Understanding of fundraising programs, initiatives and best practices required;
  • Prefer previous experience organizing fundraising events required.

Computer/Software Skills:

  • Strong computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and donor database software;
  • Raiser's Edge experience strongly preferred;

Other Skills, Abilities and Requirements:

  • Significant commitment to the mission of helping low-income students earn admission to college and persist toward degree completion;
  • Must have a desire to engage in diversity, inclusion and/or equity work;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously;
  • Attention to detail, including proofreading and project follow-through;
  • Comfort with data collection, analysis, and a strong focus on results;
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced environment.
