College Possible is a growing nonprofit coaching students from low-income backgrounds to and through college to break the cycle of poverty and empower the next generation of leaders. Our model has earned national recognition: the inaugural Evergreen National Education Award recognized our leadership in increasing access to and success in college for students from low-income backgrounds. It also earns top-of-field results: a Harvard study found that the program more than doubles a student's chance of enrolling in a four-year college, and our students are four times more likely to become college graduates than their low-income peers. College Possible has a budget of $28 million, more than 140 full-time employees and more than 270 AmeriCorps and VISTA service members. Your Role as Vice President, College and Career Success

As the Vice President of College and Career Success, you will set the national vision and strategy for our college access and success programs, as well as research, design, and innovation. As such, you will provide leadership for College Possible's in-person and tech-connected college access and success programming, including Flagship, Navigate, and CollegePoint.  Your leadership will develop the blueprint for College Possible's ambitious 2025 plan, codifying and strengthening our program model, building a data-informed culture, identifying key partnerships, and leading strategic initiatives. In this role, you will leverage your entrepreneurial spirit, deep knowledge of college and career success, and visionary leadership to help ensure that our AmeriCorps coaches, regional leaders, and external partners deliver high-quality programming and resources to help students earn college degrees, pursue career pathways, and fulfill their potential.


You will manage national-level programmatic relationships and serve as a primary point of contact within programmatic arenas. With a focus on research, design and innovation, you will also work with leaders and sites to support program implementation, increase knowledge management, and ensure that best practices are shared and strategically integrated across all programs and teams.  You will help develop the infrastructure necessary to propel College Possible forward. Serving as a bridge between our college and career success programming at the national College Possible office, you will identify promising opportunities for program synthesis, partnership expansion, and program deployment with existing and new high school, college, non-profit, and corporate partners.


The Vice President, College Career and Success is integral to the culture, effectiveness, and impact of College Possible:


Program Effectiveness and Innovation

  • Serves as a programmatic leader, providing the overall strategic vision, planning, and implementation for College Possible programming
  • Sets the KPIs and priorities for all college and career success programming and creates systems that track and monitor program data and overall effectiveness
  • Develops an organizational point of view on weaving career and alternative pathway research into existing college match and fit framework, curriculum, and training
  • Implements and leads a continuous quality improvement process throughout the program and service areas
  • Researches, develops, recommends, administers, and evaluates programmatic design, best practices, and technology applications to ensure programs are achieving College Possible's goals as they relate to the enrollment, persistence, completion, and success of students from low-income backgrounds
  • Identifies, pilot tests, and evaluates new programming initiatives to expand College Possible's impact, specifically but not limited to the use of technology
  • In collaboration with site Executive Directors and Program teams, identify opportunities to test ideas that could enhance program effectiveness or efficiency across the organization
  • In partnership with the Senior Director, Design and Product Innovation, informs strategic efforts to address technology needs, cultivating partnerships, and building solutions that support growth and sustainability

Partnership Development and Management

In collaboration with the VP, Partnerships

  • Provides leadership and guidance around secondary and post-secondary partnership development and management, which includes developing and onboarding new partners, deepening and renewing existing partners, and designing materials to support partnerships, including an implementation fidelity rubric
  • Develops a deep knowledge of existing program partners and enhances current partnership efforts, including working with high schools and districts as well as with institutions of higher education through College Possible Connects.
  • Explores new partnership opportunities that could more rapidly expand College Possible's nationwide reach, and cultivates strong relationships/partnerships with higher education partner institutions



What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred)
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience, including deep knowledge around college access, college completion, and career readiness
  • A deep understanding of higher education landscapes; experience in a leadership capacity in higher education is preferred
  • Knowledge of critical components of the college access and success space, including 2- year and 4-year institutions, workforce development, and credentialing

Moreover, you ensure decisions are evidence-based and informed, which contributes to your track record of meeting ambitious goals including helping students graduate and achieve success at scale. Likewise, you model continuous improvement by staying abreast of trends and learning about new methods and approaches that could be incorporated into the program to surge effectiveness.


As a strong relationship-builder and communicator with experience leading diverse work teams, you have also demonstrated success in developing an organization-wide strategy for program excellence and effectively leading a performance-based/outcome-based program and staff.  Moreover, you possess a high emotional intelligence acumen and excel at working cross-functionally and building relationships with all levels of the organization as well as with external stakeholders, which includes AmeriCorps coaches, students, higher education partners, and College Possible staff.  You also bring fundraising/development and strong partnerships development experience. Lastly, you strive for excellence in your work and operate with unwavering integrity, which contributes to your ability to lead others to new levels of effectiveness and programmatic impact.
